FRIENDS OF GITHABAIS.

Board of Directors' Report 2019.

The year 2019 has offered many joys and challenges as well as a positive further development of our ongoing and planned projects at Githabai with Githabai Primary School as the center.

In 2019 we have worked with

  1. Sponsorships for the continuing education of children and young people from cramped communities in collaboration with former Deputy Headteacher Nancy Waweru, School Board Chair David Njoroge and School Inspector Mr. Wanyaga of the Githabai Primary School Sponsorship Management Committee.
  2. Collaboration on maintenance, improvement and operation of the water project at Githabai with engineer Catherine Wanjihia as well as representatives of the Water Committee, Karati Secondary School, Githabai Dispensary (health clinic) and users.
  3. Collection of funds for contingencies price increases for school fees for children and young people.
  4. Collection of funds to assist Githabai Primary School as well as Githabai Dispensary with necessary improvements and equipment.
  5. Raising funds for a new team of school uniforms for afflicted students at Githabai Primary School.
  6. Collaboration and collection of funds for activities in the Hope On the Move group.
  7. Collaboration and fundraising for the Moses Kids Welfare Program. (Street boy Home).
  8. Update of the association's website githabaisvenner.com

We have achieved the following in 2019.

Found sponsors for 2 students from Githabai Primary School in Secondary Schools from the 2020 school year.
Found 2 new sponsors for higher education for 2 young people who have previously completed Secondary School.
Graduate education of Evalyne Kinyanjui with a diploma in special needs.
Graduate education of Samuel Kimani as a Bachelor of Economics.
Graduate education by Grace Njoki as a bachelor of sciense and technology (computer engineering).
Connection of 7 new users to the water project at Githabai.
Check out the water project plant and operation by engineer Catherine Wanjihia during our October 2019 visit.
Funds raised for 57 school uniforms for worthy needy students at Githabai Primary School.
Construction of a waste incinerator at Githabai Dispensary kindly donated by Lions Club Præstø / Fladså and Lions Club Fuglebjerg.
Supported Hope on the Move by holding motivational and career talks at Githabai Primary School, Koinange Primary School, Koinange Secondary School and Karati Secondary School.
Held an evaluation and planning day with the Hope on the Move Steering Group and the Githabai Primary School Sponsorship Management Group.
Supported the Moses Kids Welfare Program with volunteer contributions from benevolent members.
Collected extra funds by giving lectures on the association's background and projects to counter, among other things. price increases for teaching and residency at Secondary Schools and Higher Education.
Funds raised through the sale of Kenyan tree birds.
Update of the association's website by member Georg Andersen and treasurer Henny Hansen.
Handing out collected phones, cameras, pens, pencils, and balls to worthy needy children and young people at Githabai.
Brought glasses, health supplies and equipment, knitted comforters, toys and toys to the Githabai Dispensary by nurse Trizia.

Primary targets for 2020.

Collect funds for supplementary equipment at Githabai Primary School and Githabai Dispensary.
Find a Secondary School sponsor for at least 1 new student from Githabai Primary School in 2021.
Find a new sponsor for continuing education by Susan Wanjiru.
Conduct check of water project with subsequent report by engineer Catherine Wanjihia.
Raise funds to organize student day for past and present sponsored youth at the next visit of the President.
Expand our partnership with Hope On the Move and the Moses Kids Welfare Program.
Continue updating, further developing and maintaining the association's website in collaboration with member Georg Andersen.
Raise funds to meet extra expenses related to tuition and residency at Secondary Schools and Higher Education.
